The directly-heated triode power tube 2A3 was initially developed by RCA in the USA starting in 1921. Its model evolved through 201, 245, 275, etc., and after over a decade of improvements, it was finalized as the 2A3 in 1933.
The 2A3 boasts superior performance, low internal resistance, and excellent amplification linearity. Power amplifiers using this tube produce a sound that is clear, transparent, highly faithful, soft and natural, sweet and mellow, with a rich tube character. It has endured for decades, becoming a foundational classic among tubes. Many audiophiles state that the 2A3 possesses a unique, directly-heated tube flavor that is irreplaceable and incomparable to other tubes!
